Peace Donates Another $12,000 to Mercy & Sharing

Published on September 23rd, 2011

The PEACE Fund is delighted to announce it has made a further donation to Mercy and Sharing of $12,000.

Samantha, our liaison at Mercy & Sharing, just sent this update after returning home from her recent trip to Haiti:

"I just returned from Haiti a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to let you know that the kids are doing really well and are thriving in our programs. The children are speaking English and French beautifully, and they are becoming such lovely young ladies and gentlemen. They are also learning Spanish and are also fluent in Creole, which is the official language of 90% of the Haitian population.

Thank you as always for your amazing support of our work. In the midst all of the chaos in Haiti, our programs continue to be safe havens for the children thanks to the incredible generosity of organizations such as The PEACE Fund. There are currently 112 children in our orphanage in Williamson, and by next year we are planning to have over 650 children in our three schools. On any given day there are approximately 5,100 beneficiaries in our programs, most of whom are children and families.

School officially starts on October 4th as decided by the Government of Haiti. Once school is in session and everyone has been set up with their books and supplies, I will send an update with pictures and any additional information on the Cite Soleil School! the neighboring Williamson community to help restore the hope and faith of the people."

Special thanks

Thanks to everyone for your generous support and prayers!
