PEACE helps CCIN

25 years on the legacy of the Chernobyl disaster lives on and CCIN (Chernobyl Children In Need) works hard to try and help support nearly 400 children in Belarus, the area most affected by the fallout. Many of the children, probably the majority, are sickly because they have a weak immune system which is a common side effect of radiation. They get the radiation through the ingestion of the food they eat, as, although the air is clean, the soil still remains contaminated.

A small part of CCIN's work is the provision of respite holidays to the UK, which have been shown to boost a child's immune system for up to 2 years. Whilst in the UK, CCIN arranges not only visits to opticians and dentists but also tries to arrange new experiences and The PEACE Fund was delighted to be able to assist.

Relief Fund for Romania

A further donation has been made to The Relief Fund for Romania (RFFR) which will be used for urgent repairs to an outdoor play area in Pode Turcului. The village, like most of them, is poor, there are no jobs, dusty and have no services for the population.

The day centre is the only attractive place in the area and is intensively used by the children of all ages. The outdoor play ground next to it has been used a lot and is now in urgent need for repairs. The frames are broken and dangerous and is difficult for the staff to keep the children away but the children use it anyway outside working hours.

Help us help Mercy and Sharing

Click here to visit Mercy and Sharings own web siteM&S has had to implement strict regulations on who can go in and out of their facilities and hasthe need to sanitize hands and feet upon entry and exit at all of their program sites. They therefore have a huge need for soap, bleach and clean water to be made available to as many people as possible in Haiti.

M&S has implemented a Water Production Program and pumps water 12 hours a day using a diesel generator to produce electrical power and the daily cost for this alone is $100.

When we, at the PEACE Fund, heard that The Relief Fund For Romania (FSC) was looking for a new website to promote their work we were happy to be able to help.

The PEACE team and FSC worked closely together to create a brand new look, the new site being available in both English and Romanian and highlighting just a small proportion of the vast amount of work undertaken by FSC.
