It is very true that from little acorns huge oak trees grow and so it is with ideas. From a simple email request on a YahooGroup asking for like minded people to band together to offer each other support in losing weight, we now have Pounds for PEACE. As Adrian is well known for his own discipline and focus on health and well-being, this idea neatly ties in his “fitness” ethic with improving the health of his supporters and provides a focus for raising funds for PEACE.
The aim is to encourage people to adopt a healthier lifestyle and there is lots of help and advice available through the YahooGroup Pounds for PEACE. If you wish to join the group, simply click on the logo at the bottom of this page. Of course, joining the group isn’t mandatory and lots of people may wish to achieve the same goals without participating in a group.
And if, in the course of attaining that healthier lifestyle, someone loses weight, well that’s where the fundraising comes in! For example: you want to lose 30lbs. You agree to donate a certian amount of money for every pound lost and, in addition, you ask family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you. At the end of a set period of time (say three months) check what weight has been lost and gather in the funds and donate to The PEACE Fund.
As part of the 'Highlander' Convention in Los Angeles Adrian had the opportunity to meet a number of those participating in the 'Pounds for PEACE' initiative and receive an update on how things were progressing.
Adrian is pictured here with Judes who was part of the convention team and indeed a very successful ''Pounds for PEACE'' participant herself.
Adrian wanted to pass the undernoted on to everyone who has and is participating.
Congratulations to all of you participating in ‘Pounds for PEACE’. I have been seeing some amazing results from some of you who participated and have heard how some of you set weekly and/or monthly goals for yourself along the way. I personally think that having a goal for something is important and whether yours was to lose a few pounds, or to help raise some extra dollars for children around the world, you have succeeded. Everything in life is about what you want and what you want to do. I am a firm believer in putting your mind to a task and then following it through to the end. But to do that you have to set markers along the way. When I begin a film or a project of any kind I make sure I have an “Endgame” in sight, otherwise life will try to pull my attention away from the goal I have set myself. It is important to do that if you want to succeed. So again, thank you for your commitment and for those of you still in the program keep it up and I hope you too have your own endgame in site."
